Sienna Rose Mayhew

    Oh my Sienna girl.
    My sweet, sweet Sienna girl.

When we first met you were 4-years old and had lived a life of so much abuse and mistreatment – it took you 6-months to trust me and to not flinch when I touched you.

We’ve been through so much over the last 8 years, my girl.

When I left the Navy you helped me to acclimate back into being a normal person.
You were always there for me during tough times.
When I was sad you’d run up, reach out your paw, and rest your head in my lap.

Oh how I miss that already.

When we first met I made you several promises…

    1. I would always love you and treat you so well. You’d always have the best food, the best water, and the best bed.
    2. One day I would buy a house with land because I know how much you love to run around – outside is your happy place.
    3. One day I would get you a Momma that loves you as much as I do.
    4. No one would ever raise their voice or their hand to you again.

I thank God for our time together and that I was able to make good on every promise before you had to leave me.

When we first met others saw you as a pup that was unpredictable due to the abuse that you had lived through.
When we first met I saw your heart and I think that you saw mine.

You were my absolute best friend, my dear sweet Sienna.

I hope that you know how much I cared for you, how much I adored you, and how much I loved you and still do.

For many years it was just you and me – Sienna and Daddy.

Those times I will always hold dear to my heart.

Although my heart is breaking I know that your heart is joyful and happy because you truly are in a better place.

My dear Sienna, I did not want to see you go – and you knew that when you looked into my eyes and took your last breath.

I wanted to hold onto you forever.

You have indeed taken a piece of my heart with you and I know that you will tend to it well just as you have always tended to me well.

Sienna Rose Mayhew, thank you for everything my girl.

I will mourn losing you for a long time but I’m strong – and you helped to make me strong.

You brought me back to life many times my dear.

Your Daddy, Mom, Olevia, Bubba James, Max, and Zeke miss you terribly.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for being such an amazing part of my life – for being my best bud.

Daddy will always, always love you, my sweet, sweet Sienna girl.
