Queenie

  • Date of Birth: 03/01/2004
  • Date of Passing: 05/05/2021

Queenie was a stray Chihuahua-terrier mix that we found on a rainy and cold night in November of 2004. From our first encounter, we knew she was a feisty little dog since she would not let us catch her and it took several attempts to finally get her! Initially our intention was to rescue her for another family. We had a nine-year old Corgi mix and did not know how Stubby would react to another dog. In the end, Queenie became part of our family and an excellent companion to her sister.

Queenie filled up the house with joy and excitement. She was always ready and happy to go for a car ride and long trips. She also loved to stay in the car until we had to bring her in at nights. She was little but she sure had the “Napoleon complex” and was never afraid to face off any cat or dog, regardless of their size.

A picky eater, she would always smell the food thoroughly before taking a bite and if she did not like it she would bark at us to let us know. Her favorite foods were ground beef and beef jerky which we made in the Air Fryer. Bananas and some veggies did not pass her smell test.

Queenie never lost her appetite despite her age. However, as her health deteriorated we made the painful decision to let her go comfortably and peacefully at home surrounded by the people who loved her.

Queenie, we miss you greatly and we thank you for the many years of your unconditional love. We will treasure the time we shared together and you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace, little Queenie.
Dave and Lori Barkley

P.S. Thank you Faithful Companion for bringing Queenie back to us so quickly as you did with Stubby in 2009.

She has so much character in that picture, I could only imagine how much she had in life. My heart goes out to you, Lorena and Dave.

Lorena and Dave - I'm heartbroken over the loss of Queenie. I don't think she could have ever found a better family to be adopted in to. I hope your pain lessens with time and you are comforted by the memories of her.

Sweet Queenie! I’m so glad she found you. She had a wonderful 16 years with you, knowing nothing but kindness and love. I know that she and Stubby are together again. 💕

There once was a dog named Queenie Whose little stature was teeny She she loved Dave's beef jerky And might have tried turkey But Roger considered her quirky Rest In Peace Queenie. We still remember your heated carseat that was equipped with a seat belt :)

Queenie's picture says it all: Looking right into that camera, feisty, confident and totally in charge. She was rescued that cold & rainy night so that you both could give her all the love and "happy" she deserved. Of course, she returned that love and "happy" right back to you both. It was hard to let Queenie go, but it was also the last loving thing you could do for her. May your hearts start mending. Matt & Vicki

Queenie was a very fortunate little dog when you found her & actually chased her around to get her in your car. Not many people would go to such lengths to save a stray or lost dog! So glad Stubby got along with her so that they were both happy. All you both can do is remember her & the happy times you had with her. The last thing you did was to let her go because of her condition. I'm sorry you've both lost a little member of your family but you did what you had to do & it was done in a humane, loving way. What a dog...17 years old. She was happy for a long time.
